Common questions

Do I need any butchery experience to use Herdit?
Not at all. The app guides you through every section of the pig with a visual diagram. Each cut has a plain-English description, typical retail price, storage life, and cooking suggestions. Whether you're processing your first pig or your hundredth, Herdit keeps you on track.
How accurate are the weight calculations?
Calculations are based on UK industry dressing percentages for each breed. The app uses anatomically correct maximum weights for every cut — for example, a Pork Tenderloin is correctly capped at around 600g per fillet, not the full loin weight. Real-world results will vary by individual animal, but the estimates are a reliable planning baseline.
Does it work for all pig breeds?
Yes — Herdit includes 12 breeds including Large White, Duroc, Berkshire, Tamworth, Gloucester Old Spot, Mangalica, and more. Each breed has its own dressing percentage, fat profile, and flavour notes built in.
What is a CPH number?
A County Parish Holding number is the unique identifier for your holding issued by DEFRA. It's required for livestock record keeping in the UK. Herdit includes a CPH field on each butcher sheet so your records are compliant from the start.
Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes. Cancel any time from your account settings — no questions, no penalties. You keep access until the end of your billing period.
Is my data secure?
All data is stored securely using Supabase (enterprise-grade Postgres). Your CPH number and plan data is private to your account — we never share or sell it. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe; we never see your card details.
